General guidance, not a diagnosis of your device. Possible causes below need assessment before a repair decision.
Storage and memory do different jobs
Storage is where your files and installed applications live. RAM is the working memory used while applications run. Adding RAM does not increase the space available for your photos or games. The exact warning matters more than the word “memory” in a casual description.
Capacity trouble is not a diagnosis of drive failure
Microsoft explains that limited space can affect performance and leave insufficient room for updates. Its storage guidance distinguishes temporary files, installed applications and personal content. A full drive may need an agreed clean-up or a capacity change; it does not, by itself, prove that the drive is damaged.
Keep the files you actually need
Decide what must stay, what is already backed up and what you no longer need. Do not delete folders you do not understand or assume a cloud icon means every file has a safe second copy. Tell us about your data before a clean-up or transfer so the work can be agreed around it.
When an upgrade is worth discussing
If your normal work keeps filling the available space, a compatible larger drive may make sense. Compatibility, the condition of the existing drive and the plan for Windows and files need checking. SSD or RAM installation starts at £40 labour plus parts. A separately agreed data transfer starts at £40.
What to send TechSav
Send your model, the drive capacity and available space if known, the warning text and the apps or games you use. Tell us what you need to keep and your budget. We can assess whether clean-up, a transfer or a hardware change fits the problem.
